Traveling to Marion/Ft Wayne for work - good roads?
I learned yesterday that I'll be heading out from Dayton to Marion and/or Fort Wayne to complete some network equipment upgrades at the VA hospitals there. I will be spending the last week of the month there and hope to be allowed to ride the bike out. Can any of the Indiana folks tell me if there are any good roads in the area that I need to check out? Google makes it look pretty straight but maybe I'm not looking closely enough yet.
Thanks all.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

There are only a couple of good roads I've found north of Indianapolis, and I travel the state pretty heavily for work. The northern 40% of the state is pretty darned flat, with a few limited areas being the exceptions.
If you go exploring in the "Lake Region" (a rough triangle connecting Huntington, Peru, and Marion), you'll find some nice roads nestled in a mixture of trees and cropland, with a few hills thrown in. There are three large reservoirs in this area (Roush, Salamonie, and Mississinewa), so on weekends during spring/summer there is a lot of boat-towing traffic, but weekday evenings see essentially no traffic on these roads.
This area is right in between Marion and Fort Wayne, so it would be easy for you to explore in the evenings from either location.GS450E GS650E GS700ES GS1000E GS1000G GS1100G GS1100E

Thank you for the information Griffin; hopefully I will have time to do some exploring in the evenings. I just heard today we will be pretty busy while we're there.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

Well, it was a gloomy day today but I started out this morning running into southern Indiana near Brookville and up through Rushville. I had a blast throughout the southern section but crossing over I-70 brought straight roads so I threw it up into 6th gear and put the hammer down. It was all two lane road and most of them weren't even striped which made it fun in a couple of spots.
Figured I'd throw up some pictures of one area; funny part is that Google didn't tell me I'd run into a gravel road through one section of my route. Oh well, still had the biggest smile on my face.
I came through Knightstown and saw this fantastic looking old soldiers and orphan's home and had to stop for a couple of pictures.
They have us staying in Kokomo and I'm hoping the weather will stay decent for some of this week's morning hours since we are working nights.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace
