Day 1 was a travel day. 381 miles to the hotel in Roanoke. Great ride, better than expected. Taught me that I need to spend more time in WV. great roads. 260/261 had some really great twisties.
Day 2, rode about 25 min south of Roanoke, VA and hit the BRP about MP 135. Thanks Cowboy, as that was RIGHT where it was closed going north. The BRP was a pleasant surprise. I hit it perfectly. Speed limit was 45, I kept it at about 53 MPH and cruised on down the road. I had it all to my self for about the 30+ miles to Mabry Mill. I'll never be one to brag about my route planning skills, but Mabry Mill was my B'fast stop. Inside, "NO TAKE OUT TODAY" and "2 Hr wait". WTH? Then someone said "Happy Mothers day" to a lady. DOH! I passed 3 cars on that 30 mile stretch, but Mabry Mills was packed? Lol, all was good. I had food on board. The rest of the day was about the same, BRP all to myself, no real traffic. My next plan was to ride 1/2 the Diamond Back to Marion, NC and stop for the night. That route was awesome!! Next day, I rode the other 1/2 back to the BRP. Both are FANTASTIC rides. Highly recommend, thanks Chuck!!
Day 3 was the rest of the BRP down to Cherokee. I gotta say, almost like clockwork: I was rounding a sweet left hander, right at the entrance: "Welcome to North Carolina". At the end of that corner, my 1st traffic. lol BAM, small Jeep SUV. About a mile later, we both got behind a Can Am Spider. Now, I have never ridden one, but here is my take: They are WAY under powered for 2 up. As the Spider would hit maybe 40 MpH on straights. AND they can't corner well. As the slghtest bend in the road, the Spider would slow to about 30. lol After about 10 miles of that, passing zone...... Once again, BRP all to myself until about Asheville. Speed limit dropped to 35 and had some light traffic. All was good though.
