1981 gs650e, need some help finding some parts.
Hey guys thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I'm looking to fix up my gs650e and am looking for advice on how to go about fixing the r/r - or stator or whatever. The bike isn't charging and instead of trying to figure out what exactly is wrong I was hoping to just replace the whole charging system so the problem doesn't reoccur. I was wondering where I could order a replacement unit for my bike, and whether or not it's something I can easily fix. On top of that, I was wondering if you guys could offer any advice on replacement gauges (or point me to someone who would have an original). The guy who sold me the bike didn't have them and I'd to like to put a speedo and RPM gauge on it. If it's possible I'd also like to have a gear indicator and fuel level indicator. Thanks again for any help, I appreciate it. -

!) get a Rick's stator and Shindengen SH775 to fix your charging system. Wire the stator directly to the R/R, bypassing the factory harness. This is one of the most common topics here at GSR and if you search for info you will find more than you care to read.
2) ebay for gauges. If you can't find E gauges some G gauges can be adapted.
BTW, The GS Resources Project GS forum you keep posting in is dedicated to restoration of a special bike owned by our Administrator (Frank). Please post your questions in the correct forum next time. You will get more traffic that way too.Ed
