Got hit by one about a month ago and got the tell-tale bullseye mark. Went to an "Urgent Care" clinic and got a shot and a round of antibiotics. I've gotten plenty of tick bites over the years but this is the first time having this kind of reaction, can't be too careful!1980 Yamaha XS1100G (Current bike)

I never saw the one that got me. I carried Lyme for over two years. I was ready to commit suicide. Every doctor just missed it. When it was caught, I was hospitalized immediately. I had the highest level of that strain of Lyme ever tested at Danbury Hospital. 60 days on Doxycyline, when then lead to C.Diff, Sepsis (the Doxycycline killed all the good bacteria in my intestines, and an opportunistic bacteria started eating the walls of my gut), I almost died from that. If you get a bite, don't chance it, get it checked out, get a shot, it knocks it right out, but once it goes through your system, and if it passes the Brain barrier, you will go quite insane. That happened to a friend of mine, and he died a horrific death.

I've seen people get pretty messed up from Lyme disease for sure! There's another disease they carry that makes you allergic to the protein in red meat, as someone who follows a rather strict diet of meat and vegetables that would be the end of my keeping my muscle mass up at my age!1980 Yamaha XS1100G (Current bike)

My 3 year old dog has an open checkbook for his healthcare and has received the best tick protection available. Vaccines, monthly stuff and collar. He always picks up ticks on our walks and tested positive for Lyme about a year and a half ago. Just had another round of blood work and whatever it is they test is still high. However, he has never shown any symptoms of the disease.
I am surprised that neither my wife nor I have been infected or have we....

My Dalmatian got Lyme, during the early years, no Vet knew what it was. I was ready to put him down (he was in so much pain), but I took him in, he was like a bag of bones (Lord, I loved that dog), and the Vet said, "I think I can fix him". I come back the next day, my Dalmatian is standing, wagging his tail. I was shocked. He attacked it with intravenous antibiotics, he told me he "took a chance" because he didn't think the dog would make it. He spent the night with the dog. This Vet was from another era. When the Lyme epidemic hit Ct. at large, he was ready, and everybody was going to him. He was a pioneer.
Jesse (the Dalmatian) lived for 16 wonderful years. Best dog I've ever owned.
