    Father's Day memories

Being Father's Day I thought this memory of Dad was appropriate. My first car was a well used 1970 Dodge Challenger, it was fast, loud, and did not have A/C so it was not the best Date car. Sometimes when I managed to get a date with a young Lady Dad would let me take his 1967 Ford LTD which was quiet and cool. Mom told me later that every time this happened, Dad would come up with somewhere they needed to go. She said "He revs the motor and squeals the tires, it's embarassing!" That was DAD!

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.

When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

Mine was a '70 Pontiac with a 455/4bbl (premium gas, pre- detuned years...). I remember getting a real kick out of just getting to start it in my early teens when it was still the family car. Getting to drive it too, eventually. Alan Jackson's "Drive" can bring tears to me - "Can't replace the way it, made me feel..."

Dad's still around. That car is LONG gone. Like over 35 years ago gone.
