Wow Don! I realized you were not visible around here lately, but I had no idea why. Glad you're doing better.

Thank goodness you pulled through that. It sounds awful.

                                Update:

Finishing up my 29th day in the hospital. Have minimum of 17 more to go. I am feeling well and fattening back up but I have to stay around for heavy duty IV antibiotics three times a day.

Not a bad life. I have two computers, my phone, a good supply of protein shakes and Quest bars, even an occasional visitor. And I can get an ice cream or chocolate pudding cup anytime I ask for it.

The two things I miss the most are riding and sitting on my front screen porch with some chips, salsa, and beer watching the world go by. Nothing makes you appreciate the simple things in life more than being suddenly deprived of them.

I strongly advise against getting a staph infection but if you do you need to find a doctor who can diagnose it. Mine was missed by three different doctors and got a 6-8 week head start on me. The symptoms are high fevers, profuse cold sweats, chronic fatigue, and unexplained lumps anywhere on your body. Grab your doctor by the throat and make him do a comprehensive blood panel and/or a CT scam of your lump. If you have a metal prosthesis in your body (hip, knee) the bacteria are more likely to attach there.

I wish that I had been more informed about what my symptoms were pointing to. Staph infection had not even crossed my mind. By the time I learned I had one I was already in ICU.
Believe in truth. To abandon fact is to abandon freedom.

                                Nature bats last.
