Have gotten my 82 GPz750 mostly stripped down ready to remove the engine.Got the pivots nut off but the pivot bolt itself will not budge.Even my 3 lbs club hammer didn't move it.Put some PB Blaster on it but if that doesn't work I don't know what else to try.Used my air impact to make it spin but that's all it did.Any suggestions on what to try if the PB doesn't help?

Never use a screwdriver wrench or pliers, get a hammer.
If that doesn't work, ... get a bigger hammer.

Humm, so bolt spins but won't push though eh? Sounds like the sleeve that's between the two swingarm bearings is seized to the bolt. Only thing I can think of is whack the pivot bolt with a sledge as Steve suggests. Might damage something but what to do? PB Blaster won't get all the way inside the swingarm so let the chips fall where they may.Ed

How about a press?
On rusted axles and once on the long motor mount bolt through the back of the engine I have had to saw through them when they were rusted to the spacer. Sawzall out a piece, remove the wheel/engine, then replace the axle and the spacer.
Might think about that before you hammer on the frame hard enough to bend it.
Got a picture from the rear of the frame?

A cheapie Harbor Freight style pneumatic chipping hammer might solve the problem for you if you have an air compressor.

I doubt penetrating oil will get past the outer seals and reach that inner sleeve. Won't hurt to try though.Ed

I'm hoping that the fact it moved even a little is a good sign.I know what you are saying about the seal.I REALLY hope I don't need to go that far Steve.

Just for S&G the tried hitting it with the club after dosing it this evening. After not moving much the first hits I manage to get it close to flush with the frame.I stopped in deference to my neighbors and to dose the other side now that it's easier.

Remember, if you can't fix it with a hammer, ... it's an electrical problem.

Success!A bit of heat from a propane torch and a new to me penetrating concoction of ATF and alcohol got her moving Thanks to Bear on the BC Classics site for that suggestion
The old bearings did a number on the pivot sleeve.Been trying to get the old races out,can tell they are going to be a stone azzed b****h to get out.Just about have the nut threading to the pivot, hoping a little more file finessing will get that on to.Last edited by Guest; 05-19-2014, 04:23 PM.
