    Inspection Services

Looking at a CL Goldwing that's out of the area - has anyone used the paid inspections services, such as Lemon Squad or One Guard?

Yeah - I know there's probably a GS'er who's willing to help - just looking at other alternatives.

How far "out of the area"? If it's anywhere near me, I can take a look.

      Never.

What general area is the bike located?

Just looking at the pictures, it's not bad. Reasonably low miles, remarkable lack of chrome accessories and just some subtle pinstriping and a fair price.

It's the first year of the 1800, there were very few problems with them. I think the frame recall started with the mid-2002 models, so this one should not be affected.

As long as the color is to your liking (it's not my preference, but I'm not buying it), I would suggest getting a bus ticket, grab your gear and go get the bike.

That bike only has about another 150,000 miles left in it.
Those Goldwings are notorious for lasting way beyond their design limits. -
The price looks right too -
Seriously - Do not be afraid - It looks like it has been treated well -
Any Goldwing Rider who pays for pinstripes ($$) will typically be taking good care of the bike
Proper oil changes are key to longevity -

The recalls on these are still all in effect -
Check the VIN # to see what is still open - (A local Honda Dealer can do that over the phone for you)

The most recent is the rear master cylinder recall -- Honda gives you a NEW one installed by the dealer.

Valve checks are every 32,000 miles - Usually there is little to do - Dealers are expensive to do it (but I paid them)
It is a Shim UNDER bucket if my knowledge serves me correctly .

Tires last about 10,000 miles - except the Avon Cobras (expected 15K) and the Dunlop E4s (expected 18K) But these are $$
Bridgestone last about 10K and are cheaper - change every year - I have tried them all so far- I like the Avons right now

I can help with the easy maintenance in my garage - tires, oil, filters, brakes, etc. I do mine and my Sons '02 as well

Buy it - ride it - love it

Give me shout this summer and you can ride out by me and we will tour the Holy Hill area -

                  Awesome choice -
                  Not even broke in-
Check for all the recalls with your new VIN # -
Have them done - valves checked every 32,000 miles (supposed to be)
Tires will go about 8500 to 12,000 miles depending on brand and riding style
Set the pre-load to 20-25 for best ride - Most of these early year wings had under filled actuators which rendered them useless under 15
Change oil check air pressures - ride and repeat for the next 100,000 miles or so...
