    Shift lever orientation

When I put my clutch cover back on my shift lever seems frozen. I think the clutch is adjusted okay. While I had the clutch cover off, I also had the secondary drive cover off on the opposite side. I bumped the shaft for the shift lever and noticed it moved towards the clutch side. When I buttoned everything up, I must have gotten something in the shift lever assembly out of whack. I've taken the clutch cover back off and think I have it oriented right now, maybe. Should the arm stopper, 29 in the diagram, fit between the toes (ends) of the spring? The number is blurred, but I think the spring is #28.

I find working on my motorcycle mildly therapeutic when I'm not cursing.
