Pumpkin disassembly
I need to take the rear pumpkin apart to replace a bushing. I took out the bolts that holds the big plate on behind which are the innards, But I can't get the plate off. I see a couple of threaded holes on the plate could they be for some sort of a puller ? Has anyone taken a pumpkin apart who could point me in the right direction ? Thanks.Tags: None

Sorry, no experience taking apart one of the final drive units so can't help with your question. I can say that these units are extremely durable and rarely fail or leak, and because of that you can buy a good-used unit for cheap so you might want to consider that. I happen to have a decent unit from a GS1000 with 28k miles that you can have for shipping cost if you want to go that route. Send me a PM if you want to discuss.Ed
