    Clutch gasket - '80 850L-two choices?

I need to get a clutch cover gasket for an '80 850L, the parts fiche lists two part numbers-
    11482 45000 H17 and
    11482 49100 H17
I know the second one fits my bike, an '82 850G, but I am less familiar with L models. Is there some way to look at the bike and figure this out, or do I have to buy both parts and then match when the clutch cover is off?

The clutch covers changed style in '82. So, if the one matches your '82 and the other is different it would be the one for the '80 (my assumption, not having looked at the parts listing). The G and L models use the exact same engines and associated parts, but in '82 they removed the kickstart area (in '79 it still had the kickstart and the casting for '80/81 had the spot for it but no hole or anything so the cover is longer).

Yep, Dan described it quite well, here are some pictures.

Look at the back of the clutch cover on my '80 and a couple of '81s. You can see the 'bump' for the missing kickstarter.

Now look at the back of the clutch cover on an '82. No 'bump' for the missing kickstarter.

Thanks guys, I know what to do. For an '80, it's the first one on the list above.
