Well I think everything is going much better. I am now checking the valve clearance. I want to make sure I am using the right measurement for the clearance can you tell me what is the right spec for 1981 gs550l? I am not trusting what I read in the manuals since I got the timing wrong.

Oh, and since you have new rings it's advised to take the bike out and ride it aggressively. Don't baby it. The rings need pressure into the cylinder walls in order to seat properly. No need for a top speed run or anything, just ride it around town good and aggressively and use lots of throttleLast edited by Nessism; 06-23-2012, 06:45 PM.Ed
