    Won't start

    A little background:

Stock exhaust, carbs and airbox. Carbs ultrasonically cleaned, new orings, float heights set, air screws set at 2 1/2 turns out, etc., new stock air filter, valves adjusted, fuel tank POR-15'd, new oem petcock, new battery, intake o-rings and boots, carb/airbox boots, airbox sealing, new plugs and caps, fuel is 1 month old w/ the blue stuff (??) added.

Had it running half a dozen times in the garage over the past 2 weeks. Yesterday while I was starting to do the Stator Paper chart diagnosis, it started running rough, so i gave it more gas and it sputtered out. Restarted it, ran rough and needed more throttle to keep it running. Exhaust pipes 3 and 4 were were not very hot while 1 and 2 were very hot. It died again and now won't start. All plugs getting spark, but they're black and dry. All carb bowls have fuel in them.

    Any Ideas????

I don't know. You say there is both spark and fuel, but if there were it would start.

Is the battery charged? Could the plugs be fouled, or maybe a couple of them.

I'd check for voltage at the coils. Should be at least 11 volts.

Not sure what else to suggest but want to remind you to not let the bike idle too long without a fan blowing on the engine.

    Good luck

It sure sounds like it ran out of fuel. How much fuel is left in the tank? Did you try starting it with the fuel petcock flipped to prime?

Yes, I do have a fan blowing on the motor, and I know I need to check the coils.
I will check the fuel level again. I thought I had about an inch in it . . . I didn't try starting it on prime, but opened it to the prime position for 15-20 seconds and then tried starting it on reserve. Hopefully I was just being a dope and need to add more fuel. Thanks.

Hi babes. Are you sure the POR15 stuff was completely cured before putting fuel in...
This happened to mine and the fuel had melted the liner!!!

Sounds like the problem here. "an inch" of fuel sounds like pretty much nothing.

                  Remember, Left coil fires Cylinders 1 & 4. Right coil fires 2 & 3.
So if cylinders 3 & 4 weren't bangin, it couldn't have been coil failure. So immediately you know there is a "fuel" issue, or something else.
