When I did the cylinders on my G last Spring (valves, valve seals, rings and hone) I followed the advise on this site
and just rode the pi$$ out of it as per the article. Got 8K on the engine since and all compressions are in the 160 range and she only uses about 8 to 12 oz. of oil between changes no matter how I ride it. Runs like a new one.

That mototuneuse recommendation is a little over blown in my view. Millions and millions of engines are put into service each year and only a few have problems with rings not sealing, and very few are broken in like those guys recommend.Ed

Well like I said the next day I have off Ill just take for a good 5 hour ride down some awesome roads and see what happens. If not then Ill redo it. I live in Florida where it rains for 5 months straight during the late summer so if need be Ill do it then.

You need to check everything when reconditioning an assembly. Again, did you check the valves and valve guides as shown in the service manual and did you check to make sure you didn't damage the valve stem seals after installation?

I was just yesterday looking at / cleaning up a head for a 750 and as I was looking things over I see that it has a crack on the #1 cyl intake valve guide, what are the chances you have the same problem?1984 GS1100GK newest addition to the heard
