850 head gasket size?
Hi all, tapping your vast amount of knowledge again. I have bought a gasket set and the cylinder holes measure 72mm, the 850 has a bore of 69mm. Is the extra 3mm an allowance for the crush as the head is torqued down or have i got an 1100 head gasket? The Hi Level gasket part no is 997920 and this is correct on the Hi Level website. Cheers.Tags: None

Not really sure about HI Level gaskets, around here it is HIGHLY recomended that you use a OEM gasket. They are far superior than the after market gaskets1984 GS1100GK newest addition to the heard

If you look at the Suzuki parts manual you will see that Suzuki superceeded the 850 head gasket with the 1100G version. Apparently they don't think using the larger bore gasket on the smaller engine is a problem. Regarding HiLevel gaskets, sounds risky. As the others have suggested, OEM gaskets are the safe bet. Lots of members around here have had poor results using aftermarket gaskets. False economy.Ed

The purpose for making just the 72mm gasket is so that it can be used on every compatible engine, instead of having to make three different gaskets for each bore size. (69-70 and 72mm)
