    GS850 Piston Rings Inquiry

I'm getting into the engine for my 850 now, and I'm seriously considering over-boring the engine... I have not attempted this before.

I believe what I have right now are stock original rings. If I were to over-bore the cylinders, will I need to replace the pistons as well? Is it worth it to overbore it? What would be the cons to an overbore? Will I need to re-jet the carbs if I over-bore?

I'm trying to line everything up before I go too far with this engine. I got ahead of myself last time around and got into some trouble...

An over bore will require new pistons and rings in the correct size for what ever diameter (.5mm,1.0mm) you decide to go with.

Normally an overbore will not require rejetting.

An overbore is not required unless the cylinder bores are out of specifications. As Ed likes to say; to measure is to know... measure then decide.

Great - thank you! I'll be tearing the engine apart next week then. Have a good one =]
