One more thing to look at for clogging the carbs. Did you by any chance buy that last tank of gas while the gas tanker was filling the station's tanks? It can stir up a lot of sediment from the bottom of thier tanks. Cars usually get away with it with their fuel filters, but we can't.

as you say, it's not the carbs themselves that I am worried about are not willing to do, it's getting out and back in place......that is the bugger....

I always said I was going to go to pods to make it easier in case of such a issue, and here I am in the exact predicament I was not wanting to be...

It's just frustrating, but chit happens, and it could happen to any bike at anytime....contamination in the fuel system is a possibility for any bike...

your right, at this point I would give it away,,,,,well almost

well I just hope it's some dirty crap and nothing more, a few hours wrenching on a rain Saturday can't be that bad.....can it.....LOL

I would rather do what you need to do with the stock set up than mess with pods. If you really want frustration, try getting a pod set up spot on right, and the good? news is that when you finally do get them "right", you find your gas mileage is about half of what it was originally. NO thank you! heh

Before you get too involved in this, pull the plugs and look at them if you haven't already.
With the blue smoke coming out of the exhaust system, she could be over fueled. How has your fuel mileage been lately?

didn't see the tanker there, so was he there just before, I don't know, doubt it, but it could happen.

I would rather do what you need to do with the stock set up than mess with pods. I will stick with stock for now, don't have pods (another expense I don't want anyways) and to get the original airbox out is a pain as well, and I don't want to cut it up...

Tomorrow is wrench day, Spyug is on his way with the carb tune gizmo, and I will get to ripping apart the bike tonight, as well as pulling the carbs and breaking them down as well, just in case.....going to drain the tank as well to see if it has any crap in it as well, there should not be, but who knows.....

I will try to keep notes on my findings, as well as pictures of the wrenching, perhpas it can be of use to others in the future.....

too bad one cannot move carb bodies around, just to see if the issue goes to another cylinder, it would be a great way to do some troubleshooting....

Well they are calling for rain from Saturday to Tuesday, well at least that gives me enough time to get the bike sorted.....LOL

Well spent the better part of today chasing down the cause of the issue.....

Carb were removed, broken down, cleaned inspected, float level double checked, carb cleaner blow throughout, and in the end, found=n absolutely nothing wrong with them, clean as a whistle, another 1/2 hour putting them back in, lots of cursing, some bent to heck clamps that had to be straightened back out, but we got them back in.

Put back in the battery holder, vent tubes, wires and so on, hooked up the IV bottle for our gas supply, and tried to start the bike, she just craned and cranked and no start, got the battery charger out, got the spare car battery and still it wouldn't start, double checked the wiring, and bammm found the positive lead for the relay for the coil relay mod was missed and not hooked up, well without it no power to the coils and that means no spark, duhhh it certainly wouldn't start that way...

Hooked up the wire, now we checked for spark, on #4 cylinder and we have spark...

once again we hook up gas and push the start button, but still it would not start....

what the heck is going on

no matter, choke, no choke, throttle, cranking or not, she will not start, almost catches but just will not run

so we go to the spark plug leads, #4,3,2 have spark but nothing at all on #1, not even a hint of a spark, trimmed the lead, new plug, swapped out plugs, but no spark on #1 at all.....

no start, just turns over and over and no start at all....

finally gave up, figure it's now a coil, for the number 1 cylinder, but hey it ran before on 3 of them, now it will not, bummer....

went and had a late lunch, pizza, beer, Cuban cigar, some Slivovica, and called it a day....

So I now know I do need a coil, even though it don't explain why it will not run anymore, but since only 3 plugs are sparking and the #1 is not, I guess it's time for new coils, or at least some used ones, but ones that are working, just so I can try and see if the bike will start, I really don't want to buy new coils and the bike will still not run, I am not throwing good money after bad......

so on the hunt for good working coils, before I purchase new ones,,,,,,

I have put a parts wanted request for coils.....hopefully I can get some soon....

so the bike sits on the car jack stands waiting on coils now....

hey there... not sure if this would help, but you can find the wiring diagram on BaseCliff website....... and thanks for reminding us you can get Cuban's when ever you want...LOL

I get the Cuban cigars form Cuba, buddy of mine is (was) an in charge for our local airline and his main route was Cuba and back, so cigars are never a problem....

Not sure what the wiring diagram is going to do for me.....

the coil is dead, need another one

either used ones that work, so I can make sure the bike is still working, and then I can get new ones....

not going to get new ones and bike still don't run....not a good plan in my books...

yes it is the coil.....

I swapped the other one to this side plugged in the wires and I get spark out of both leads, plug in the bad coil and no spark out of one of the leads, and always the same lead, I put the bad one on the other side, still the same, one lead shows no spark at all..
