    rust on head gasket

Hey all. Someone I know is selling an old Wiseco piston kit for a GS1000. BUT, there is some surface rust on the head gasket that comes with the kit and on some of the brass rings there is a green colour. Are these a problem?

I'm really leaning towards don't trust them, especially the gasket but just wanted some opinions. Cool 'little' upgrade

I wouldn't worry to much about the green on the oil ring expander, a little steel wool or a small piece of scotch brite should remove it. Now if the pitting on the head gasket is just superficial then I might be inclined to go ahead and use it on a stock motor. But if it's more than just a light bit of pitting, personally I wouldn't use it.

So very hard to tell from those pictures. Probably best to error on the side of caution and get another..

Looking at it I think a polish with 1000 grit wet & dry or something would make it fine... I'm no expert.

The green is oxidation the same - just brasses version of rust!

Thanks for the input guys. The kit is a 73.5 kit. I'm tempted but I'm pretty sure 73.5 is boring out the sleeves to the very edge of maximum. Isn't it?
