There should be an o-ring or similar that fits inside each copper washer.Last edited by rustybronco; 08-31-2014, 07:37 AM.

I had first noticed that from one of your other pictures. All of the pictures that I have been able to find show the head gasket without those washers so I assume they should have come separately with the kit. The washers that I did get do have rubber on the inside and look like they may be intended for this purpose however there is know what to make it fit inside the copper ring it would have to sit on top and that does not seem correct. Well that puts a stop to the work I wanted to do over the Holiday weekend.

Is it possible to trim the metal edge of the seal so it would fit inside the copper ring? How thick is the metal on the seal anyway? What is the origin of this gasket kit? Dale asked if it's aftermarket but didn't see a response. If aftermarket, what brand?Ed

It is after market I believe Vesrah purchased from Z1, Is it possible that the reason the copper is there is to negate the need for the rubber o ring?

Maybe you don't need the O-ring. Maybe the overlap of the metal lip of the seal onto the copper ring is okay. Maybe you will get leaks. That's the quandary when you get into aftermarket gaskets. Lots of maybes.
Suzuki changed the design of the head gasket and seal quite a few times over the years. I believe they have now gone to MLS style head gaskets which do away with both those stud seals as well as the rectangular O-ring around the cam chain tunnel. I'd put blind faith in Suzuki's gaskets, but not aftermarket. Again, maybe you can trim the metal lip of those seals so they fit inside those copper rings. If that's the case then I'd roll the dice on them. If not, more study is needed.Ed

Thank you for the ideas I agree with you last statement "more study needed." If I cannot find out from the forum I will call Z1 Tuesday.

I have looked at the OEM gaskets and as far as the copper inserts at the four corners are concerned they look the same as my after market gasket.

Thank you for posting that picture, it is quite plain to see. On Tuesday I will call Z1 perhaps that is the purpose of those washers, however they do not appear to fit. Thanks again appreciate all the help.

You may want to pop off an e-mail to the manufacturer of the gasket set instead.
Jeff at A1 is a good guy but keep in mind he may not know everything there is to know about that gasket set.

Did we ever get an answer here? I'm now in the same boat.. also, just to make sure... do the (4) copper washers go on TOP of the head, under the acorn style nuts???
Guess I'm just double guessing myself here:
Under Cylinder Jugs = (4) o-rings that go around the Cylinders (outside them on the bottom), 2 pear shaped "o-rings" and the base gasket.
Immediately on top of the cylinders is the head gasket and the rectangular "o-ring"...
Nothing else between the crankcase<cylinders<head, correct?
