    Engine swap

I have a complete 1981 GS1000 GL and a spare 1980 GS1000 engine. The engine in the complete bike smokes and knocks. The spare is ready to go. Is the '80 compatible with my '81 frame? Both are shaft drive.

Should be a straight drop in replacement.

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.;)

Cool. If so, this will make this project go a lot quicker and smoother. Thanks for the help.

Yep, will confirm the "straight drop-in replacement".
