    GS cam chain replacement

Hi all, time for a new cam chain in my GS750EC, have brought an RK cam chain with joining link, my question is with regard to the riveting the joining link.
My experience with installing bike drive chains over the years has been to use my chain riveting tool to spread the hollow nosed link to close the chain, my chain riveting kit includes the special sized mandrels for riveting the smaller cam chains however the joining link included with the new RK chain is not hollow nosed at the end, wonder if it will work if I use my riveting tool with this type of link, is it the right way to do it or would a better option be to carefully peen the ends of the link manually.

Is there anyone out there that has experience with this?

By the way we have 2 GS750s, love them. I'm in Australia.

Some would tell you to only use an endless chain. Others say they have joined cam chains together without issue. Without getting into that debate I'll say that if you want to join the chain you need to make sure you have the proper tool. There are cam chain rivet tools kicking around the internet so you might want to do some research on the subject. I think if you can properly peen over the pin end you should be okay. Key word "properly".
