Riser swap, GS700e to GS700es risers

Wow. What a huge difference. I'm a tall guy, with long arms, so the stock E risers had me sitting straight up in the saddle, catching a lot of wind buffeting in the face, and really feeling like I was sitting too far back in a corner. Now...not so much.

Now, I'm sitting forward a bit, but not horribly so, in a lot better position for when the roads get twisty, and the position helps a lot with wind buffeting because my head's a lot more in line with the top of the fairing. The mirors are also ,much better now, as they look over and outside my arms, rather than just showing me my manly chest.

Big thanks to Mr Griffin, who swapped me his ES risers for my E risers. (they'll ship priority mail friday morning.)

I had a similar problem; I am 6'3" and felt a little nervous when I wizzed by a "Low Clearance" sign. It is not a great before and after comparison because of the different angles of the pictures, but you can get an idea.

that was initially my goal, then the offer of swapping a set of ES risers for my E risers came up...I think I'm low enough without going to clipons for now...

These were nice bars for the '83 to '85 bikes. They are pictured on my '83 750.

They use the stock attachment points and hardware and clear the ES bodywork. Made by Daytona, they come up used on Ebay from time to time.

I had recently swapped out my stock bars for Euro bend bars. I felt uncomfortable sitting strait up and the wind was getting to me. They are much lower but still have a small rise. I most impressed with the handling difference both one up and two up. I’m guessing it’s due to a change in the weight distribution on the bike. It’s a nice change. And my wife says, gee… I have more room now.

No pictures yet. I’m waiting on a fairing and then I’ll post some.

I bought a set of 1150 bars from rphillips and I love the feel and I can see better with the mirrors now. Like you said they are forward but not too far forward.

I did the same thing for my 85 GS700E. Not long after I bought the bike I found a set of risers from a ES model and it worked out great. I'm not as tall as some of you guys, but at 5'11" it feels better in the slight forward position. I also have done some vintage road roacing with a bike setup with clipons below the top triple clamp and am a little biased to the position.

Here is a good side view of my bike with the ES risers. I removed the black paint and polished the aluminum for a different look.
