If you don't mind the inquiry, how much did that set you back to get those parts painted? Curious as to the market rate. Did you get it done at an auto paint place?

    SWEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeet....!!!!

I went to a few auto paint shops in my neighborhood and the lowest quote I got was $850 for just a single colour. I got these parts painted by a younger guy who does it as a side thing while he's in school. He only charged me $300. There are some pinholes and a little tiny bit of orange peel on the tank, but it was DEFINITELY worth the money. He also told me if I can't get the pinholes and stuff out with some rubbing compound, he'd wetsand it and re-clear it for me.

The white stripes are just a basic white base coat (2 coats of white over the primer, then 3 coats of black, then 3 coats of clear).

I just got done putting everything back together (I also put on a new petcock and carb boots.) I'll take pics later.

Ok, here's a pic of the bike assembled. I haven't gotten around to cleaning up the rest of the bike yet, but you get the idea. Now that I look at it, I need to get the fork legs painted.

I plan on putting on progressive springs with black bodies and chrome springs.

Another thing i noticed now that I look at it, i need to get my seat recovered. I want something darker and synthetic, not leather. I think leather would a) be too expensive and b) fade too quickly. I think i'd like to have some foam shaved off too, so that the seat blends better with the tail section.

              Anyone have any ideas?

The more I see other 450's the more I think my seat is overstuffed....

                Looks sweet btw.

man, i dig the classic black /white theme!
                  looks really good.

i love the S/E tank, looks so much better than my stock T tank...
but i went with a GT waterbuffalo tank...hope to have it cleaned up here soon.

                  nice paintjob hero.

Verry nice! I just put a quote in for a very similar paint job. Now that I see it on yours, I'm sure it's what I want.

Seat looks to be in good shape. Mine is off to http://www.sargentcycle.com/ as soon as I can get to the Post Office but I'd bet they'd work with you to give you any look you want. Without seeing the front end, consider painting the headlight bucket too while you're at it.
