    Got bored

I'm on hold building my engine (waiting for parts), so I had a few minutes and started playing around with my cam side covers. Which do you like:

Picture this one with new chrome:

    Or Painted:

    Or the traditional chrome one:

I guess I could do the original style in black, too. Keep in mind the motor will have black side covers. I'll be using chrome bolts wherever I can...

That is cool. How did you do that? I am always a fan of black (I powder-coated my covers). The covers might also look cool in some sort of satin aluminum finish.

I think you should have all the edges of the cooling fins on the complete engine in full shine, as a contrast to the gloss black. lotsa work there, huh?

              Like this?

I was planning on maybe shining up the side fins on the head....

the first one I left plain, the second one I painted, and the last one I just buffed the edge of the painted one with a soft wire brush in my drill.

I like the plain finned one even though you were thinking of chroming it. I like look of the edges of the fins on the head being filed down like on my 700
                  .

do that last one with the brushed fin tips. then do it to the rest of the head.

Now that Ive seen the black finned with the polished fin edges, that is now my vote.

I like the chromed finned idea, has a nice contrast.
