    Windjammers Only

Seems to be a lot of interest in the venerable Vetter Windjammer here lately.
How about a Windjammer only picture thread.

Post some pictures of that Vetter equipped road barge.
Be sure to include any mods, tips, tricks or improvements you've made too.

    Good idea!

About halfway up Palomar Mt. The whole hillside was burnt by the fires.

Here's mine again. Actually, both of my 850s have Winjammers now. I have a white one on the burgundy bike but no picture as yet.

Believe in truth. To abandon fact is to abandon freedom.

        Nature bats last.

          Four bikes? That's it?

Is there no love at all for this classic design?

This may be the red headed step child thread.

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.

My 1984 GS1100GK after installation of Windjammer IV. Stock GK fairing and trunk were destroyed in the "Bambicide" of Dec 2001. I added lowers to the fairing a month after these were taken.

Also destroyed was the GK triple tree. I replaced the triple tree with one off an old GS850G. Front brake parts transferred without modification. (GK front end is different (wider) from that on the 850G, 1000G, and 1100G).

I enjoyed riding behind the Windjammer for 7 riding seasons. No modifications to Windjammer, with standard windshield. No radio, no electronics.

The seat is a velour-topped unit by Diamond Custom Seat. I ordered it in early 2001 from Diamond, with my measurements -- inseam, height, weight, passenger or no. I sent them the pan, and a month later I had the seat. It was pricey, but a superb investment.

This seat allowed me to enjoy hour after hour on the GK for many years.

The velour makes summer riding much cooler, and cold-weather riding much warmer. My tush is important to me.

Here's mine when I bought it last march. Being new to riding, I removed the Vetter kit, not to damage it (not if, but when I will drop it, wich occured twice already).
Also, knowing I had a lot of wrenching to do, it would be more convenient.
This thread now got me thinking I might put it back on...
