99K was used by a good many people. Hence it being the standard. But it's a Dupont code.-1978 Suzuki GS1000EC

That Dupont paint won't be a proper match for the Skunk paint. As Sandy already mentioned, it has some metallic in it.
When the paint is mixed for Dale's bike it's no extra work to mix extra. Follow Dale's lead and send him money to cover the costs. He will get the color properly matched.Ed

Chuck, straight blacks can come with a blue or brown cast to them. the tint or shade of a color, gloss and the depth of gloss are two different animals. both color and gloss can be affected by the clear you use, the number of top coats applied and the level (smoothness) of the finished surface.
I can give the tank to Nancy and get it scanned if that would help you.

I am talking about the one you showed me when i had my tanks at your house. Thats not a NOS tank? Anyway, this one doesnt have any metal flake. I also just took my finger nail and flaked off the paint and primer a bit and to me it appears to me the original paint.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

As mentioned, black comes in many shades. It's like white. You'd think there would only be pure black, pure white, but it's amazing how many subtle changes there are. The deepest, darkest, most black, black, I have ever used is Concept black from PPG. I've parked this baby next to lots of black cars and everything looks gray or brown next to it. It's available in a base coat-clear coat system, or as here, a single stage, no clear. You can read the reflection of a newspaper in it.
