      I sprayed all the bare metal with a PPG epoxy primer, first, then PPG K36 High-Fill Urethane primer for the final coats. It's pricey stuff, about $125 a quart with the hardener (K201), but it works really well. Sands nicely.

        Larry, have you ever used this primer? http://www.bapspaint.com/docs/psheet...tron/P-173.pdf I used it when I painted my CB750F.

        I would have used K36 this time around but I got a bit more than a quart of it for free. all I had to do is buy the activator.

          I haven't used that particular product, no..but there are some quality products besides PPG for sure. I just know and trust PPG products after using it for 3 decades. I hate paying the prices, but, I continue to bite the bullet, whining to my paint guy (that I've worked with for many years) every time I get anything.. I'm thinking very seriously about going to water-based products for base coats. They've come a long way, and I've heard really good reports on it..more variety now, cleaner, safer, less expensive. Some states now require it, plus it's already being used extensively in Europe, so it might be worth a try..

            Larry...I didnt open the can to see how much of the original mix was left..You gonna use the mix code or was that ppg number thing the right info you needed? I want the can with the mix code back with the parts please.

              The info on the color you gave me is just what I (paint store) needed, so we're good. I'll send all that back with the parts, no problem.

                The one thing i forgot was new screws for the tank badges so you could put them on for taking portfolio pics.

                  I'll just put em on with dbl. stick tape..or maybe..epoxy........

                  I'll order some up. The last set I bought cost a whopping 4 bux.

                  Getting the Skunk sprayed this afternoon. In between coats, as we speak. Lookin' good....

                    Heck just repaint the ones from the Burgundy tank..they were new just this spring. I was thinking of the skunk tank. repaint some old ones for that too if you got them laying around. Noones gonna be noticing screws when they look at those tanks anyways!!

                        I am waiting on the decal kit to show mup for my Cooley right now.. then save the cash and mine will be heading to Washington also.

                            Got the base colors and then the stripes done on the Skunk. Spent all afternoon applying the stripes. Always nerve-wracking 'cause you only get one shot at it, but they turned out pretty nice..

                            Tail section and seat trim





                            Skunk tank. Reproduction Decals have updated their system to include the badge mount holes which made lining them up easier then past decals.



                            They were off on the right side, though. Almost had a heart attack when I saw this. They were off a whole inch. Smaller holes are the correct position, but thankfully the emblems still cover them up..whew!!





                            I'll get the stripes on the maroon C tank tomorrow.

                                Gheez...I sure hope they do cover the holes. Did you hold a badge up to see? Maybe the picture needs to be emailed to them ASAP so they can correct this. Thats pretty far off for what you pay for these kits!!! They are gonna look spectacular as usual.
