emblems
All of the info I can find on what color my emblems should be says that for a 1981 gs750e is gold, but my side cover emblems are clearly silver, which from what I have found should be true of a 78 - 79 model. Should I paint my tank emblems silver or gold, I think silver, anyone know for sure. If silver than I ma just prep them and have them rechromedTags: None

The original ones were chrome silver.
The new replacements that are available today are gold.

Have you checked Reproduction Decals?
Much cheaper at Boulevard Suzuki's site, 14.07 for the tank emblem and
16.20 for the frame, same part numbers for '80 and '81 model years, but
it doesn't specify color.sigpic

The emblems are not too hard to paint. Hit them first with the silver, then tape off the raised letters and hit them again in black. It's not too hard to razor the tape edges on those letters, so you should be able to get a pretty crisp break between the silver and the black.

thx guys, i have already painted them gold but since my side cover emblems are silver, i think i will repaint them the shiniest silver i can find. the old owner of the bike sanded the chrome almost completely off (expletive). so paint is my only affordable option right now. thank you very much for the advice guys... always surprised at how helpful people here are.

The original Suzuki emblems were aluminum. I've restored them before by painting them black, then I came back with a sanding block and 600 grit paper and sanded off the paint on top of the letters to let the silver come though. You can clear the entire thing afterwards if you want but the emblem will look good the way it is.
This photo isn't the best but this emblem was restored that way...

the underlying color of the emblem is gold, but the previous owner has sanded the mirror-like silver on the lettering. going to go get some paint today i think.
