    Emblem Color Silver/Gold?

So I have not been able to find the answer to this question anywhere. I was hoping someone could enlighten me on the subject. My 1980 gs750l came with silver tank emblems with a black line through the middle of each letter. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=203431

someone was nice enough to take a good photo of their so I don't have to.

on various oem parts sites you can order new ones but they are replaced with a new part # and now come in solid letters gold in color. you can also order new side cover emblems that come with the original part # but these emblems are gold as well with a red GS. Can someone please tell me what the correct colors are suppose to be? Could it be possible that the tank emblems were silver and the side cover emblems gold?

    Thanks!

As I understand things, the gold was/is stock. From the folk lore, the gold is long worn off from waxing and whatever else. In any case, whatever you order new from Suzuki is gonna come in gold.

Yeah that makes sense. It sure seems like there are emblems listed on ebay as NOS that are silver though. That's why I was confused. I wonder why suzuki would put gold emblems on. Seems odd.

Just MAYBE that bike did have chromed letters..ive never had one. I know for a fact that the 750 and 1000 are gold from the factory.

I bought a '79 GS1000E tank from a member here, even though it was listed on e-bay. The tank badges were definitely silver. I don't think they were original. I sent those to Dale (rusty bronco) if my memory serves me well.
I do believe the silver ones were on earlier models than the gold.
At least thats what I gather from looking at Reproduction decals application
data for their emblems, but I also see alot of errors, so I'm not too sure I can trust it.

I just saw a set of gold ones that are exactly like the ones that came off my bike although it would be nice to know what actually came on mine. Makes sense that they would be gold and it has just worn off over the years. I would like to find a set of NOS ones. Just re painted my tank. It would be a shame to put some old crusty emblems on there.

Take your emblems off and turn them over.

So if they're gold on the back then they were gold on the front originally?

If this is the right year they look gold to me. But I'll keep lookin.

I honestly cannot tell what color they are. I believe this to be at least an '80 judging by the case emblems if those are original.

This is supposedly a '80 GS750L sales brochure. And they look
                        GOLD to me.

These emblems are still available from Suzuki under a revised part number.
Doesn't matter whether it's for a LX or LT model, the revised and superceded part numbers are the same. $15.44 at Boulevard Suzuki.
My bet would be they're Gold.
