harbor freight HVLP gun 15 bucks works GREAT

I wanted to post this up about the on sale 47016 Harbor freight HVLP gun.

It was on sale for 15.99 and with 20% off coupon i had, I figured WHY NOT TRY ONE???
After getting familiar with the adjustments, I mixed up FOUR OUNCES of white epoxy paint for my gs400 front fender, thinking if needed ,I'd mix another batch.

AFter painting it, I had almost THREE OUNCES left and thats after 3 light coats waiting 5 minutes inbetween..
NO OVERSPRAY and i wonder why i never did HVLP before?!?@#$$

pics will be posted later, I was too nervous and forgot to take them but I won't be going in the room til later.. i am very impatient but will wait hahha

heck you could buy one and throw it away after using it!!!!

I'd dig it out of the trash for you except I threw it away so long ago...

Mine works well enough. We have painted several complete motorcycles with it, with no spray gun related errors or flaws at all. Just throw in the paint and start shooting, it works fine.

Definitely works better than the $50 Craftsman gun.

If I was painting for a living I'd buy a better gun but for $14 or whatever it is you can't go wrong for once in a while use.

The one the OP shows is a full size model. The one from princes auto is a 'mini' gun.

I would still like to find an Astro 4020 mini to try out someday. If it sprays anything like it's full size counterpart it should be great gun.

I just bought one of those HF spray guns as well. Just might be able to use it this Sat. Oh, it has already been thoroughly cleaned.

I've used the same gun from HF quite a few times. Worked quite well once set up where you want it.

I've used it for high metallic, base/clear. Neglected to clean it properly a while back, so I just picked up another one since I was in the US and they were on sale. Keeping my old one for parts.

I used the $14 dollar HF gun to spray this.

Went from black to a single color sunburst. Decided if the cheap gun worked this well, a better gun would do even better. Bought a DeVilbliss set and fired it up. My compressor died within 3 minutes (not connected to the gun used.) Ended up buying a Fuji MiniMite turbine sprayer and now have the three guns taking up space in the garage. Will likely Craigslist the guns.
All in all, very pleased with the way the HF gun worked for small jobs.

I have now painted two bikes with the purple cheapie. I was real surprised at the low amount of paint I used as well. Heck, I just kept putting on coats. The last gun I had had a tendency to spit out a bit of paint now and then. That will make you loose your religion fast. Since I will not be painting for a living, with this inexpensive gun with an inexpensive compressor, you are ready to go. Now I need to set up a good booth.
