Silver or gold tank and side cover badges for an '80 GS850G?

My odd question is what is the correct color for my 1980 GS850G- silver or gold, tank and side cover badges? Myself, I could go either way seeing as my bike was repainted a dark red, but I was wondering what the oem color was supposed to be.

Yep. I am not sure what they used to be, but get new ones now, they will be gold.

      Personally, I like the gold.

Also note that if you order the decals for the crank end covers, they will not be silver on black.
They will look like the one shown on the green bike.

Not sure if different markets received different coloured badges, but here in South Africa the OEM colour for both tank and side cover badges was gold.

Interesting- one can't easily get silver any more, huh? Well, I quess it'll be a redo in gold then so it all matches.
          Thanks for chimming in folks.

Its just a thin film over the silver..and you can use rubbing compound and a rag tightly wound around your finger to rub them to the silver below if thats your thing.

              Factory emblems were gold.

Below is an original 80' with gold emblems. Maybe Suzuki used both depending on the bike color?

Negative. They started off gold and through wear became silver. Have a look at the back of a silver one the next time you have it removed.

Gold yes, but the lettering changed sometime after '80. We'd have to look at the owner's gallery to get a read on when.
