Paint to match the soft lustre of black controls.

I am thinking of painting my MC and other controls parts.
Has anyone used a paint that matches the OEM closely?

Try some VHT Satin Black caliper paint. Bake as instructed at 200F and the stuff is very durable and really, really, close to stock. I understand it doesn't standup well if you don't bake it but I've never tried it that way.

A +1 on this and no it does not hold up well unbaked

SEM black Trim paint is a real close match to factory, seems to hold up fairly well. Doze

Clearing whatever you paint will help it hold up, but harder to get the satin finish.

Rustoleum (brushed) can work but you need to mix gloss and semigloss to match the original patina. It needs time to harden too. Just being dry isn't enough.

Duplicolor Low Gloss Black DE1634 Engine paint 500 degree is a very good match for the calipers etc. Here is an NOS caliper with factory finish next to a front MC I refinished with the DE1634:

This one is a good match. Doesn't have to be baked like caliper paint.

                      I used this one:

On all the MC's / bars / top clamp on this FJ:

And it came up sweet. No primer. No baking. Spilt a LOT of brake fluid on the MC's getting them back together .....but no peeling!
                      Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

                      Past:
                      VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

Awesome, been meaning to do this for a while with some of my control stuff but was putting it off due to not knowing which paint to use!
