    oem exhaust

Can someone here on the GSR tell me which models of the stock exhaust will fit onto my 79 GS1000 EN? (chain drive)

I want to purchase stock pipes for mine but don't know which ones will or will not work. For example, would pipes from a 1000 G or maybe a 750 or 850 match up to fit mine?

thanks for any info you can pass on to me.

Stop right where you are! ...and tell me if you can see any corn.

I can't really remember but it seems I've read that all the 8-valve stock exhausts are interchangeable...if so, I've got a 79 750 exhaust I hook you up for cheap.

sounds good. I will PM you. BTW, there is a corn field not more than 75 feet out my back door and yes I do live in the city limits. Just lucky to have a field back behind me and not houses.

I've got stock early GS1000G exhaust on my '79 GS1000 chain drive. They fit perfectly and look the same. The only thing is that you have to change all the exhausts parts, nothing is interchangeable between the two systems, not even the heat shields.

            Sandy,

If that's the case, the "non" crossover equipped '79 GS850G and crossover equipped 80-1 GS850G exhausts should fit also.

I have the correct GS1000 and the 80-1 GS850G exhausts available to take pictures if necessary.

Salty Monk (Dan) had a 1000E system on his 1000G and said there was some sort of center stand issue, although not overly serious as I recall. Very interesting that exhaust fits perfectly going the other way.
