Here are the pictures that were requested. I did not see anywhere on the bottom of the carbs that had a number. Maybe somewhere else?

on the rims where the bowls mate up..on any of the slide towers..on the edges of the rack..look at every concievable place..I did notice too that the slides look a bit scored there!!! Thats the air jet..it should screw out. What size is it?is it al nice and clean? did you poke the hole out with a wire??MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Must be the picture because the slides are smooth as glass! I didnt know until earlier that there was an air jet in there so i will have to use a wire in all those. And there is no way to take that out. There is one in the other lower hole as well.

They usually have a small flat tip slot to remove them..try one very gently and see if it gets a bite. yeah at the very least take along thin wire and run it up in there. blow some carb cleaner in there and then blow the snot out of it with some compressed air. Seal the tip right up against the hole so the full force of the air slams thru there.Last edited by chuck hahn; 03-24-2011, 11:03 PM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Look on the two bolt flange area (head side of carb). check on all the carb bodies.
it looks like I see something stamped on the flange in this image... below your finger tip in the upper right.

Tried a screw driver and I believe what you were seeing was a peice of trash which is now gone. On the flange it says 299 with 02 under it on on the left side and the right side of the flange says 7 with a 17 under it. Idk how you saw that, good eye!

see reply #3
it looks like those carbs use an O-6 needle jet, 17.5 pilots with a 1.5 cutout in the slides.
if you could find the correct needle and needle jet (if different than yours) they might work fairly well but I think the air bleed for the pilot circuit might be to big for your 750.

If it were me.I think i would get a set of Suzuki VM 26s and since you now know they are for a 77 Kaw, sell them on ebay for a buy it now price of what you have into getting the right carbs and the right jets..That way the forum can help in the future better and the bike is set up the way it is supposed to be. thats just me though.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
