why not run em? its just eliminating one screw and making the other (fuel) serve both functions, might be a sight easier to dial in, what with less variables and fuel screws you can get at. just stick the 100 mains and 15 pilots in, and see what happens. or are you doing a resto?

So I tried running the carbs last night. It did run better than it did before I took them off to rebuild. Anyway, I don't think they are going to work out. It had a hanging idle for about 15 seconds and then would tank. I tried to ride it for a short distance and i wasn't going anywhere fast. I was getting a little bit of white smoke out of the exhaust.

Whitish / blueish smoke is oil smoke..have you done a compression check on each cylinder? Whats the mileage. Had the bike been sitting for a long time before you got it?Last edited by chuck hahn; 03-27-2011, 12:25 PM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Update: So I recieved the correct VM26SS carbs this past Saturday and have just about finished the cleaning process. Two are done and the other two are coming out of the dip now so I am trying to get this thing running tonight. I will update again when i get it running.
