Jap Bike Randy..the guy at Killeen Powersports will do them for me. Hes a buddy of Winslow ( horsepowerfarm ) here on the forum. Winslow is also the man with the new bike shop starting up in Austin. Anyways Randy said he would do all my bikes for me. Now the others need the valves checked and gone over and the full monty, so to speak. I have learned a lot in 3 years and someday i hope it pays off to fullfill my dream of working in a bike shop. I still got a LONG LONG way to go but i am determined.Last edited by chuck hahn; 03-19-2011, 08:41 PM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Spyderman
good to hear chuck that it's doing what it should now ride it and do a few more plug chops to fine tune it and then enjoy it for what it is
a fantastic 34 year old bike that runs like it was new

Im think its still a bit lean but man what a total transformation.. I was looking at the chart that has the bikes broke down by engine numbers. According to that chart my engine number says the air screw should be only 1 turn out. But for now i am happy it is acting like it has all 750ccs again.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Glad it's working better Chuck. Now you know why I keep my bikes stock.
As far as some chart suggesting 1 turn, I'd disregard that. Suzuki didn't publish that kind of info for the most part, and if they did it may have been related to emissions.
Next step in your school'n should learn to do plug chops to read each carb circuit. I'm not that familiar with it myself but I know how important it can be. I've read about some drag racer guys running their bikes with a couple of plug wires pulled off so they can get some good reads on the mains without busting the speed limit too bad. Never tried but sounds like a good idea to me.
It's all about learning so keep going...Ed

Todd ..I would totallt agree if they were of an unknown history. They were dipped and Wired George put all the guts in. I was a newbie then and just slapped them on the bike. The bike has ben a rider for the past 3 years as is. The reason i decided to do some snooping is the fact that Rustybronco did the carbs on my 78 E model and there was a big difference as far as the 2 bikes were acting.. They are both 750s so i would expect a close reaction from both. In this case the 78 was way more resposive and had more overall power than the 77. Well true to my intuition i found the jets all wrong and decided it has better be sorted out. Seeing that i knew the carbs had been dipped and the bike has been a rider for 3 years i only FRESHENED up the pasages with the carbs spray and compressed air to be sue anything wasnt in there. I had them apart so why not do a bit of extra swabbing was what i was thinking.Hope the history of the carbs gives you a better idea as to why i did it this way..Last edited by chuck hahn; 03-20-2011, 10:06 AM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Ed, the setting the air screw at 1 turn comes directly from the 8 valve 750 service manual at cliffs website.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
