I had good luck with getting my intake boots screws off with the impact hammer but the two most inner screws I cannot get because there is no room to swing the hammer. I attempted to get the battery box out think that will give me more room but now I stripped a screw out on one of the the electrical things on the side of the battery box. I tried an easy out but it wouldnt bite so I now have destroyed the screw. Guess I have to drill it out. Is the rotary tool method the best for the intake screws to make them flat heads? or was anyone able to find a way to smack the impact hammer on the two middle screws?

Do you have new rubber to replace the old ones with or is the rubber on there still good? I ask because I couldn't get my old ones off with an impact either and eventually just took a razor blade to the rubber, cut it all off so only the metal plate was exposed, then clamped on the vice grips and reefed the hell out of em. If you have extra rubber and choose to do this, just be sure you keep your intake ports clean and don't get chunks of rubber in the cylinders. -

I was able to tap the boot itself to get it to spin counter-clockwise. Then the screw was loosened just enough that a regular screwdriver (or perhaps a ratchet with a phillips tip) could get the stock bolt out. I replaced them with the hex kit from Robert Barr @ http://cycleorings.com.

I easily got my stuck inner intake boot screws out (without damaging the rubber) with small long-nosed locking pliers (about $12 at Ace Hardware).Comment

I will def try the method of hitting the whole boot counterclockwise. I already have mr barrs ss screw kit and orings ready to go. Just have to get these dang boots off.Comment
