Yeah and he took ike 360 or 400 bucks for what you taught me takes an 18 dollar oring kit from Cycleorings.com ( Robert Barr ) and some good soaking and scrubbing..lessons learned i guess.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

What Chuck says is exactly the way I do mine. Im no expert but with practice on enough sets & advise from the forum on jetting, they run pretty damn good. I had to make 1 good set out of 4 sets because of some previous wrenches screwing them up breaking idle screws & pilot jets off on my 80 GS1100E and another set for my 1100 Katana which just required rejetting & new pilot jet plugs {a P.O. used tips of rubber gloves for pilot jet plugs}. The Cycle O-rings are the best money you can spend

You have to have a $20 can of 'dip' and a $100 sync tool to finish the job (properly).
Still a lot less than $400, though.

Thank you very much, Allie. The visual just made me burst out laughing this morning. A great way to start the morning, double entendre included.

He got me for $440.00. I think a lubed up George and a Bull would substitute nicely in that definition of George's work.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

On occasion I've rebuilt carbs for people here who have been lost trying to get their bikes running right. Even sent them back at my cost. There's not much to screw up on them if you follow the guide on the homepage.

I've never had to send anything out to have it redone. I built the 63 NOva with new engine, tranny. New floor pans, new qtr panels and every step of everything was done by me except the front end alignment and 3 inch single chamber(loud) exhaust. Building a car/truck is twenty times more in-tailed than building a bike.
But, if I was too busy, too stupid or too lazy to clean a set of carbs I would most likely send em to Bill. In a heartbeat.
Jes saying.
I know your situation and dont really care to hear you rehash it. Once was plenty enough.Last edited by Octain; 10-11-2011, 09:38 PM.sigpic
