    Help with Carb Identification

    Hello,
We have a customer's bike, a 79 GS750 chopper that has a set of carbs I can't find any info on. Was wondering if someone could help out.
They are marked Mikuni 450 80 B9 21. The bike needs to be rejetted, but do not know the right specs for this carb, or if we can even find bigger jets for it.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info... do you all know of a good site for buying larger jets for this? The bike has been chopped and mucked with so much, I'm not sure it can ever run right...

See the vendor list in your "mega-welcome". Any of the OEM vendors or http://www.Z1Enterprises.com, http://www.sudco.com/oemcarbparts.html, http://www.jetsrus.com/, etc, should be able to fix you up.

                  Thank you for your indulgence,

Also lose the crappy pods. Get some quality K&N or APE pod filters, the Emgo ones you have don't filter at all, and they don't flow much air either. Worst is they make the carburetion impossible to tune exactly, as the airflow is not consistent at all.

They are OK at keeping bugs and leaves out of engines in storage.

Z1 enterprises.com We can help get you in the ball park if you can provide us with some info...we see it has EMGO pods in it, but is the exhaust stock or cut or an aftermarket 4-1?

You're probably going to need mains from around 117.2-122.5. I'd suggest buying the set of four in all three sizes so you don't have to wait if one size isn't right. They're not horribly expensive.
Pilot jets will need to likely be stock #15, or possibly 17.5 but try stock first.
The needle clip will also need to be moved.

Id suggest stripping soaking and cleaning them along with replacing the o rings so you know you're working from a good clean set before bothering with the jets you can also then see what it has in it for jets. New oring kits can be picked up for less than $25 from www.cycleorings.com. The seller is a member here and has been providing these awesome money saving kits for a long time and is top notch.

                          OK..
The pipes are stock and cut.

The filters were put on by the customer, and I don't think he wants to spend any more money than he has to. I will see if he is willing to replace with K&N pods if it will help it run.

The pilots are 15's, so it is likely we'll have to go up to 17.5's, and increase the main jet.

We have lifted the slide needles and balanced the carb set.

I will look into ordering those jets and hopefully get this thing running

                          Thanks for all your help!
                          Teresa
