Letter on Mikuni BS32SS float bowl

I was curious what the letter on the float bowl designates. My BS32SS carbs off my '81 GS850G have a "B" stamped on the outside bottom of the choke tube well on the float bowl, and a spare carb I had picked up has a letter "D" on it. Was it for a different CC engine? What is the difference?
    Thanks

I doubt the float bowl has anything different about it, but I've see. Some chart that listed the designations (it usually had a letter and a series of numbers as well) and which bike they were on from the factory. The difference would likely be in the body itself, perhaps the butterfly valve number, or the needle or needle jet size etc. if you're just using a float bowl you'll be fine no matter what it may say.
