78 GS1000 Fuel Sending Unit
On the sending unit on the fuel tank is a nipple where a drain or vacuum hose would go. What is the tube? Its been so long since I took the bike apart that I cant remember. Thanks, JimTags: None

A vinyl tube will probably work, as it should never see any fuel running through it, but the original tube was rubber.

I would suggest fresh tank gaskets to ensure there isnt any catastrophic failures in the first place. But I would run the tube out center of the engine and between the swing arm. like was mentioned, should it ever dump you dont want it gushing on a hot pipe.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Cool, I'll run a long hose down. Its funny what you forget when a project gets pushed to the side for a few years. thanks, Jim

Make sure to route the drain tube to the side of the rear wheel too for obvious reasons.Ed
