1980-1982 GS450 Carb Specs - attention Aussie Pete (Queensland)

    Attention Pete from Queensland

In a post long ago which I found in this forum - you put up the carby specs for the 80-82 GS450 (E,S,L & T Models)

They are BS34SS Mikuni's with the brass circular floats.

In that post you said that the Float Heights(from your factory repro manual) were 26.6 +/- 1.0 and Fuel Level 6.5 +/- 0.5.

I also noticed in your "rebuild thread" (which was earlier than the post referred to above) that you set your levels at 22.4 +/- - as per some of the popular manuals. You also stated that at 22.4 , the floats were very close to touching the carby body - which is exactly what I am experiencing in trying to set up my carbys. In fact I think you ended up setting yours around 23 or 24mm to overcome the floats touching the carby body.

I also have a GS450 Service Manual for 1981-1987 - and this states the 22.4 level

My question to you and any other forum member is - what exactly are the correct float levels for these models and is float height/fuel level that critical for these particular carbys. Remembering that we are talking about the Australian released models (if that makes any difference)
