Please look..were my Carbs ultrasonicaly cleaned or not?

Hi, just had a bike shop charge me for ultrasonic cleaning of my carbs. However when I take the float bowls off, they don't look very clean to me.... May I ask for opinions of if these float bowls looked cleaned or not, or is this normal... Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

They are not spotless. Can't say if they were cleaned unless you provide a "before" photo.

I would say if the bottom of the float bowl has that much gunk in it, either the bowls weren't sonically cleaned or at least not very well and I would question if the bodies were personally. When I sonically clean them, they come out quite shiny, there can still be a little tarnish on them but no residue or powdery material unless they weren't rinsed once cleaned.

Can you squirt carb cleaner or compressed air through the openings to verify they are clear? That hole in the bottom right corner of the gasket connects to the opening in the bottom right corner of the bowl and should flow through.

Depending on how bad they were to start ....
Any time I have done them in my ultrasonic cleaner they are spotless and clean.
I would suggest they didn't do a great job of it...

To properly clean carbs, and that includes ultrasonically, you need to completely dissemble the carbs. Doesn't look like that was done to yours. They should be spot less. Doesn't even look like they took the float bowls off, another shameful shop story, sorry for your headache.

let's hear the whole story that gasket looks old. and good quality gaskets are a tan color. They should have 1 crimp of installation and not fluid stained. what did you ask for and what did you pay - around here you bring the carbs alone and it is $320 plus New parts.

after the aluminum gets etched - you can scrub it with red scotch brite and it still can be splotchy.

Well look like crap, My friends son works at our local Motorcycle shop. They have a ultrasonic cleaner. I asked he told me and laughed no we don't take anything apart just toss the entire carb in the machine that's it, More bike shop tactics. I worked many years ago at a Bike Shop, some guys came in had spent a couple days trying to get fork seals out of their fork tubes, I went out back and popped them both out in about a minute and returned. The boss gave me **** for not taking more time so he could charge them more, Typical story with most shops. Just money suckin crooks, (I said most) This being the reason I do almost everything in my own shop since not many do anything right it seems anymore, The days of the craftsmen are disappearing and the Flakes are all running the show. Here is a photo of my old 550E carbs before cleaning. Even after cleaning it's common for there to be some staining in the metal. The photo makes it difficult to judge if the metal is stained or if the carbs are just still dirty. Hopefully the internal passages are clean. That's what really matters. I'd pull out the pilot jets and check to see if they are open before installing the carbs on your bike.

They look like aftermarket gaskets. K&L possibly?

Mine were way cleaner then that using Berryman's. Doesn't even look like they took the gasket off.
