1978 gs1000 gas tank

    1978 gs1000 gas tank

    I have a 1978 gs1000 and I didn't have a gas tank. a friend of mine found me a tank from a 1978-1979 gs850g the tank will not side over the frame is there any thing I can do to make it work? hammer the insides in to make it work maybe? thank for any help you can give.

    That's about it. The '80-81 GS750/1100E tanks fit, but look different.

      i was afraid of that .h are there any salvage yards in ohio that might have a tank for it?

        They are a rare bird to find especially one in decent shape. The 79 GS1000 base and E variants are the exact same tank minus the indent.

          yeah looks like the 1979 gs850g tank is to short. any one know If the header will fit ?

            The header *should* fit but the angles will be slightly different. You might need to make up some brackets at the rear end...
