'82+ GS 850 Aftermarket Exhaust?

I have an '82 GS850GLZ. I can't seem to find any aftermarket exhausts (specifically 4 into 1) that are for anything after 1981. What changed from '81 to '82? Is it just something that is easily modified?

I would hate to buy the '81 exhaust only to find out that it's completely incompatible and a waste of $400. Right now it looks like my only option is to build an exhaust from scratch.

Checkout local motorcycle wrecking yards, E-Bay, it's out there.

The only thing that changed is the rear mounting point. The '80/'81 850 had a steel loop on the frame that held the rear footpegs and exhaust. The '82/'83 had an aluminum bracket that bolted to the frame to do the same job.

You might have to make a small adapter bracket, but the exhaust will fit.
