Has anyone tried one of these? I assume they're junk.

Has anyone tried one of these conversions, I assume they are garbage, but who knows.I did order new condensors for my 750 as they were dead, they'll probably last me 10 years as I also have a new set of Suzuki points in the boxes as well, The real Dyna is $250CDN here but at least I know it'll work.

I bought a similar item off of Ebay for my 78 GS750 and it has been working great for the last 1000ish or so miles. If that helps any!

I don’t have firsthand experience, but when I recently replaced my broken ignition module, I was researching these knock off pickup plates, and it seemed like there were more than a few users who endorsed them as plenty capable. I ended up replacing my broken Dyna S with another Dyna S, but from what I read, I would be willing to take a gamble on these.

I picked up one of these cheapies last year, but haven't needed it yet. So far though, it looks and feels the part

Last year while troubleshooting some possible ignition related gremlins I bought one to swap out my 25 year old Dyna III mainly for testing purposes and it's still in there. Only cons are they don't come with instructions not that you need them and the backing plate seems to be a thinner gauge so you have to be careful not strip the screws holding the sensors on. Otherwise it looks to be near identical to the Dyna product.

Works fine. I've got one on my 78 GS1000 engine. I run 4.3 ohm suzuki katana style coils. This is mainly for charging issues I experienced because of the switch from points to electronic. No issues noted. I did need to adjust the pickups for timing purposes.

edit - I should add, it was installed on my 77 GS750 engine prior to it loosing compression.

Engine has a massive oil leak so it's mothballed and no further use of this engine is anticipated...

edit - Don't leave the key on during testing. It'll burn up your ( MY ) Dyna unit hence the reason for replacement.
