Strange Neutral Switch Issue
The neutral light wasn't illuminating on my 1000S and the problem was traced to the contact switch on the side of the engine cases. The shift drum has a hole in the end that a spring loaded plunger fits into, and the neutral switch is just a round plug with one brass contact embedded inside so when the shift drum is in neutral, the plunger touches that contact which completes the ground path for the light circuit. In order to get the light to come on I had to slot the holes in the contact switch and rotate it slightly. The shift drum neutral detent plunger is functioning so I'm scratching my head why this misalignment is occurring. Any ideas?Ed
