    Emgo Universal Ignition Coil???

So on my 1878 gs400 I have adjusted the valves, cleaned up the wiring, replaced the plugs, soaked the carbs (2), replaced the intake o-rings, added he relay mod, installed new points and am still stumped. The only thing I have found is when swapping the coils from side to side one coil runs better and smoother. I looked over both coils and they look fine and I shortened the plug leads 1/4 inch to get a fresh connection at the spark-plug boot. Should I replace one coil with a stock unit $45, change both with Emgo coils for $30. I am tempted to do both. Oh and where is the best place to buy spark plug caps? Thanks so much. http://www.amazon.com/Emgo-Universal.../dp/B002EC389W

Z1 Enterprises specializes in quality Motorcycle parts for Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha Classic Japanese motorcycles from the 1970's and 1980's.

They also just released a new twin coil if you look and I suspect quality will be decent although I haven't used them. Come with the boots too...

I would suggest fixing the problem first.

you replaced the points, yet did you replace the condensers at the same time? you looked over the coils, yet did you measure their resistance? you want to replace the plug caps, did you measure the resistance of them as well?

to quote someone on this board... "to measure is to know"
