    sh 541 rectifier??

According to the Rectifier replacement list I need a sh 541 rectifier. However, there are several choices of numbers after 541. Like 541-12 4.2 or 541-12 4.6 or 541-12 5.5
Can I use any of the 541 series or only the ones listed in the replacement list.
For those who have used the 541 series did the suffix matter?

Please help, my bike is laid up till I get a new rectifier.

Surely somebody knows what I'm talking about here?

Yeah, but it must be top secret. Why do you think that the SH-541 series is the only one for you ? - I didn't get this from a quick look at list of compatibles. Even the smallest Shindengens seem able to handle 20 amp DC output, so why not just get a SH-230 or SH-530 series which are very common and cheap. Just avoid the ones that were designed for field controlled alternators.

That is just the manufacturers version number and should not make any difference. Just pretend it is not there.

Huh, I just looked at mine but whatever number might have been there has been worn off. All I can see is SH541-12.

Duanage did not like to use the SH541s for his Honda R/R kits. While they work just fine they tend to be much larger than the stock units. Didn't really matter to me but depending on where you're trying to locate it...

While they are larger, they can be modded to fit. But you need a means to ream out the mounting holes on the R/R and the patience to fit it correctly.
