But for any testing / troubleshooting you dont really need access directly to it. WHat you need access to is the wires comming from it.
So if you were to ask, "How do I find the wires from the stator?" THe answer could be, "they would be the wires plugged into the wires from the R/R".

A better answer would be: Look for cable comming from under the starter motor cover (the starter cover, not stator cover), the cable should go towards back of transmission and then up and under the left side cover. Will have 3 wires. (if its a replacement stator it will most likley be 3 yellow wires). May go into a rubber boot that is covering those connetions to the R/R (about 81 or prior), or may go to a multi prong connector (about 82 and later).
